Are there any other adult fans on this forum? At 30 i feel like a little bit of a creeper. Thus is the peril of being an animation fan after the age of 25.
I'm 30 as well.

I only ever tend to watch animated movies, so interacting with fandom can get... interesting, sometimes.
You've just described my entire adulthood.
On the upside, we get to take ourselves to see it however many times we want, haha!

I see movies with my mom, but- she's not as big of a fan as I am... at least as far as I know- but then- either way I'm going to another showing of the sequel tomorrow soo... :P

*shuns herself for not seeing the 25 and older sub title* :O

but then.. even when I was younger..I always found the adult crowd at family gatherings n'stuff alot more fun then well... even being among people my age.. of course I'm probably thinking about 4-5 yrs ago when I was in high school...then again- I was the youngest so..

wow- I just rambled again...
My mom hates animation and for much of my life gave me a hard time about it, telling me to start watching "real things". But since I haven't lived with her for ten years, and have proven I can function as an adult (or at least make a convincing show of it, haha) she seems to have realized an obsession with animation hasn't stunted my mental development and has relaxed. She's even volunteered to go see HTTYD 2, mostly because I think she's a little taken aback by how much I care about it.

My Dad wants to see it... in fact today (when I was seeing it in IMAX, by myself, as true functioning adults do) he called me and indicated he might just go see it on his own -- and I yelled at him, because he's not allowed to see it without me!! Not the first time, anyway, haha. Plus he wants me to bring my DVD of the first one to him so he can get a refresher.

It gets a bit more acceptable if you have kiddos. That is how I came to know the the first HTTYD. It is fun to be a fan together.
Yeah, but I don't have any intention of having kids, haha. It does make me useful at family gatherings -- when everyone is trying to get rid of the kids, they tend to foist them on me and make me take them to see something at the movies. I'm fine with that, haha. I will be the animated movie chaperone.

I really wonder if my mom somehow paid attention when I was watching the first movie 4 years ago on that flight to London... because she hasn't asked me about say... Hiccup's peg leg and how that came about...

And before Dragons took over my mind- I still remembered the detail of him losing the foot after the big battle with the Red Death..

Edited because I think I made a peg leg hiccup or something...ahh those grammar errors...

I'm not quite 25 (but I do put on a great show of being an adult). I know exactly how you all feel.

I'm 27 years old, and I was probably the oldest person without children in my theater on Friday, lol. Plus I don't really have any friends my age around here who are into Dragons, so it was just me and my wife. But we had a blast

Not to worry, I just turned 47, so if there's any creeping to be done it's going to be me!

God! I love you whoever you are! I thought I was the oldest fan here but noooo :-)
I'm 36 and counting lol.

When I went to watch HTTYD2 this Sunday (Father's Day pre-screening), there were 5 children (two of them were definitely alibi kids, one baby and one who clearly didn't care about dragons because he was sleeping next to my seat the whole time) and 40 adults. For granted, 10 of them were Japanese guys and yeah, if you're lucky enough to be Japanese you can be an animation fan even when you are 80+ :-D

the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself

I'm 18 and I felt so strange picking up 25$ worth of dragons toys at toys r us so I could get a free 3d movie ticket to httyd2 also walking into the theatre I felt awkward and strange but, luckily for me the theatre was full of adults and teens. I think there were only 3 little kids in the movie theatre

Edit:I went and got a toothless plushy from build a bear and it was the most awkward experience of my life.

:-) I went there to check it but then I remembered I hated Build a Bear, so I went to the toy store next door and bought myself a small Riders of Berk Toothless plushy :-) Now he sits on my laptop screen while I'm working.

Next time just drop a "my kid is a huge fan" even if you don't have one. Nobody gives it a second thought if you look "mom-ish" (or "dad-ish).

:-) Lol, I don't look parent-ish at all, but truth be told my 9-year-old was the first dragon fan in the family, but he is a he and he's not into stuffed toys. But he has at least 3 plastic dragons from Riders of Berk and they're awesome :-)

When I was little my mom and I were both really into Star Wars (I still am!), it's nice to have a parent in the same fandom :-)
