I just thought that she was collaborating with Drago to bring down Hiccup, and was acting the Crazy Feral Vigilante Dragon Lady to get on his good side in order for a sort of Alvin-ish twist to occur, and she would give him to Drago to make him train the dragons.
Your idea just made me think about how I could make it into a fanfic... 8) You should post this in the Ideas and Prompts thread in Stories. ;)

Wow, these are fantastic! I think I actually would have liked this version of the movie better.
My other fandoms summed up in gifs:

"You have the heart of a Hiro and the soul of a Tadashi."

Even though it would have broken Hiccup's heart to find out his mother is crazy and a bit evil, I think this version of the film would have been even more intense than before :O LOVED IT!
Me? An otaku? Pfff.

Yes I do like dragons if you're wondering. Doesn't seem like it from my profile pic n signature, I know, but I do.

Wow!

I don't know whether I'd like that plot or not, I am edging towards it better since it does sound good, but I'd also have way too many questions to post than I can type out right now at the same time. :P

I like the idea of Valka being a villain but I don't like these boards. I mean the drawings are beautiful and they're clear and well done technically, but the story and the way they handle her "villainy" and the dialogue is really not good. I can see why they changed it. I wish they didn't take it in such a completely different direction but I'm glad they didn't keep this. Her being a bad guy could have been cool but not like this, this is corny and heavy-handed and makes no sense.

If it were up to me Valka would have turned out to be Drago the whole time. They could do away with the flashbacks and the history between Stoick and Drago and just make him this mysterious "guy" thats been hiring trappers to help him steal dragons that everyone talks about but nobody knows what he really looks like. Valka's armor was designed to make her look masculine anyway so people could have seen her in it and thought she was a man. Then its revealed that she, in fact, is the person known as Drago and is kidnapping the dragons which she believes are being held captive as slaves or something and genuinely thinks she's doing the right thing. And she tries to convince Hiccup to abandon Berk like she did and join her cause. That way she's not a bad person, just misinformed and going about her beliefs the wrong way. It keeps with the theme of understanding others before you judge them from the first movie as well as the idea that anyone can change. She would basically be the opposite of what Stoick was in the first movie, which would further drive home the somewhat murky point that the movie tried to make that Hiccup is neither his mother nor his father, but his own person, somewhere in between.

Anyway we could whine about how much better the movie would have been if Valka had stayed the villain but whats the point? it was ultimately not anyones fault but the powers that be that decided it'd be too much for a childrens animated film (cough cough... thats the main difference between this and star wars..................). Unfortunately the film suffered a lot for being changed so late in the game but that couldn't be helped and I think they did a pretty phenomenal job given the circumstances.

I prefer this Valka.. She still rocks and is badass.

This movie turned out to be equally good.. and having Valka as a villain.. I don't think that would have made any difference really to the movie.

The turning point in the film was Toothless killing Stoick and then Hiccup forgiving Toothless. I don't see that happening with Valka as the intended villain. With Valka as the villain, the emotional scope and the range of the movie would have been way smaller.

I think they were going to kill off Stoick either way. That was the primary reason they were forced to change who the villain was. Not just because having a parent be a bad guy is a little too dark, but also because having one parent basically be responsible for killing the other was not going to fly.

Yep. And that too. I'm certainly sure that would have been raged upon. But in the end, the trade-off's are better. I personally don't care for Drago's development that much. Hiccup and Toothless are what that makes this movie special, not Drago.
