Honestly, Dreamworks is a hack studio that's managed to make money through knowing what the public (in all its general stupidity and low standards) wants, plus the occasional movie that was actually good. If they fall, there are plenty of good animation studios that will fill the void (Animal Logic looks set to make a move if they can make the most of The Lego Movie), so as long as we get three good HTTYD movies, I still fail to see why we should care if the company collapses. We've paid our dues to them with our money, and their loss will be some other company's gain.

Unbelievably insensitive and rude comment considering how many of people and their families rely on their employment at Dreamworks. The collapse of a studio as big as Dreamworks would shake the entire industry, it was devastating when they let go of just 250 employees after ROTG. They're not in any danger of actually having to shut down but you acting like it wouldn't be a loss at all is so obnoxious I can't.

And if Dreamworks collapses, some other studio will expand or rise out of nothing to fill the void, thus creating new jobs, either for those people or for some other people who don't have jobs at the moment. It's the somewhat questionable nature of capitalism, and we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

In a perfect world, I would absolutely agree with you about the movie only mattering, and money is just money. But we all know, money is everything unfortunately. DreamWorks doesn't have the financial security to deal with a flop. Box Office results drive marketing, what types of films they are going to make next, future animation endeavors, et cetera. These films are expensive, just covering the cost of one isn't going to assure another film will be made. I especially care about films like How To Train Your Dragon not only for personal reasons but I believe it is making huge progress in the animation industry with its effects, textures, lighting, et cetera. So I definitely care about the results and I wish it only the best in theaters.

I suppose I really just care about the company, and therefor want them to know that the audience appreciates their hard work.
