So... Pretty much what you're saying is that because she's the only single girl left, she isn't allowed to be in a relationship...

You're twisting my words. No. I'm saying not every female character has to been in a relationship. Its not worth wasting time on. She's not even a main character, why does a love interest side plot even have to be introduced when theres 5000 other things they could be focusing on with regards to the main characters? I don't get whats not translating here or how else I can say it.

I'm not twisting your words at all. That is simply how I am interpreting your argument.

The reason they want to introduce the side plot is because it is a good source of comic relief!

You kind of are because I never ever said she wasn't "allowed" to do anything, I just said I'd prefer if they didn't write her that way. I'm sure you're right that its just for comic relief but I wish they'd been a little bit more creative in that regard. Thats all. I can tell I'm alone in this opinion though so I guess I'll let it go.

The way I read a couple of posts, the sentiment I took from them was that Ruff needs to stay single as some sort of female empowerment message, which I disagree with. If I misinterpreted that, then my apologies.

Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

That is what I was getting from these comments too. But I'm going to stop talking about this now before anyone gets offended and/or an argument starts!

I don't really see a problem with her seeking a relationship if that's what happens. Most people do at some point, so I think it's reading too much into things to act like it ruins her character to do so, especially when she's a relatively minor character to start with.

As for the options, I think she'd be a horrible match for Fishlegs. She quite frankly isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and prefers random violence to anything resembling an academic pursuit. Fishlegs on the other hand is obsessed with reading/learning and wouldn't care if he never had to fight. I just don't see anything in common between them.

I think she would be much better suited to Snotlout if they could stop turning their knack for causing trouble against each other. They're both more of the typical brawn over brains type of Vikings with a penchant for destruction. I don't know enough about Eret to do any analysis of a potential relationship with him.
^This.
Putting Ruffnut and Fishlegs together just seems...torturous to both of them since Ruff is so much different from Fish, physically and mentally. They to me don't seem as a fitting match so I never have shipped Rufflegs out of the sake for both characters.

My ship though is Rufflout, since they are both alike personality wise. Though I think it would take Snotlout A LOT of work and time to convince Ruffnut to his ways. And I have always shipped these two since I first watched HTTYD and fell in love with Snotlout and Ruffnut.

The one reason I don't like Ruffret is because it is more "love at first sight" on Ruffnut's case.

Though I am sure that Snotty is going to have a low chance because in a TV advert from the UK showed Ruffnut saying something like
Spoiler: click to toggle
Yet despite this I still will ship them forever.

Well, he couldn't have helped his cause with Ruff by continuing to make moves on Astrid long after it should have been obvious that she had chosen Hiccup. Nobody likes to be used as a backup plan. Still, we don't know what the events of the movie hold. There might still be an outside chance that she changes her mind about him by the end, although I wouldn't really count on it.

I'd actually have to meet Eret to decide. But at this point, I'd have trouble picturing Ruffnut with Fishlegs. Then again Snotlout isn't exactly Ruffnut's type either. From the TV Series I remember seeing her make fun of both of them and I always thought that Fishlegs would look for someone a little gentler and as for Snotlout, well I think he'd have better luck with a yak.
