Yeah. I think they should have kept her violent side. That's what makes her Astrid. It's like they changed her whole personality for the second movie.

I don't ship Hiccstrid, deal with it (◡‿◡✿)

I don't like her as much. She seems to have lost some of her voilent side which was why I liked her so much. What do you guys think?

but are you forgetting the dramatic change in her demeanor from the beginning of the first movie to the second? I would still say she is violent, is dropping eret to his death not violent? I would say she channels it in a more clever way. Which she was always clever, she was the one who questioned hiccup when he started getting good in the ring and tried to follow him to see where he was training. She was angry in the first film, she was angry at hiccup, when shes angry shes violent. I dont think we have seen a clip of astrid angry yet. But we have seen her retaining her competitive nature! She has clearly perfected her dragon riding abilities, and wait a second yes we have seen her angry and violent, when she clocks snotlout for giving his sheep up! SHE STILL RETAINS HER VIOLENCE IN A COMPETITIVE SETTING LIKE IN THE FIRST MOVIE. She only ever got violent when it was directly involved with dragon killing, and now dragon racing, because she likes to be the best, and when she is not the best shes angry. I think we are going to be seeing a lot more post riding on toothless astrid, than astrid in the dragon killing ring, which makes sense because there is no more dragon killing ring.

Also a lot of what made the 1st movie so spectacular was the character development. Every character had grown and changed significantly from beginning to end and it wasnt forced.

I'd like to watch the movie first before I judge. But this looks like an interesting topic and I completely understand what you're saying. I guess I'll put my opinion in? I dunno. La here;

People change, for better or for worse. Trust me...

I always used to go chop wood in the morning, camp, hike, I even had a curved sword and a double bladed axe I used to use for target practice when I was a Freshman, go running in the woods barefoot, and other tomboy things and whatnot. I still do some things but as I got older I matured a lot. She probably has too. Females are like that. =P Actually, everyone can be like that. Btu it's mainly females. I mean, Hiccup is apparently her 'boyfriend' and woman can have a fierce attitude, but appear feminine in the same way. =P That made no sense probably but I can't explain it well enough on this crappy keyboard.
"She's my princess and whatever she wants, she gets."
"Ruffnut? Didn't she bury you alive?"
"Ah. Only for a few hours."
