Most likely not as many people will watch it, but it'll probably be a better movie.

It'll be better than frozen and rated higher than frozen but it will not be seen as much because frozen started advertising half a year before it came out like commercials and such |

dreamworks has done way more as far as promotion actually. The teaser for httyd 2 was released a year before the movies release where as disney releases their teasers 6 months before hand |

But the promotion is mainly located in the US. I don't know if it is different in other european states, but I've never seen a single HTTYD2 mechandise here in germany. Okay, I have to say, that I don't watch T and I go rarely shopping in great malls. |

Instead of debating on whether which of the two films will surpass eachother, what if we all accept them for what they are and enjoy what they have to offer

Short answer : NO, not in the box office and not so sure in the award season. It will win annie awards yes, but for the academy if they still treat animation as they did last year probably not, besides big hero 6 comes out in november closer to the awards season and fresher in the voters minds (but I think Dreamworks is right now more interested in how much it will bring moneywise instead of awards...). That being said, it will be interesting to compare frozen and httyd2 in flaws terms and perhaps how acceptable they can be. As much as we don't want to httyd2 as quite a number of flaws that I believe will be interesting to discuss once everyone has watched it, some reviews gave some hints of this, but I'm waiting to see what other people will say (tumblr users, youtuber reviewers...), now that will be an interesting debate. |

I'm still hoping that it passes Titanic, but I think this is impossible. The movie is as big and important as the Star Wars trilogy, but it don't feels like what I heared about the excitement for Episode V in 1980. Everyone on the world was talking about Star Wars, it was in every news and GL was the most powerfull director in Hollywood. Fox does it's best to spread the movie and let it become a commercial success and it will be, but not as much as it's deserve. What I want is that the brand 'HTTYD' is in 50 years still on everyones lips, that it become the movie of the century. |

I know what you mean but I'm afraid it's not going to be with this one they are going to acheive that. I'm still hoping for httyd3 to give the final touch that the story deserves to be part of the popular mindset. |
