Are you referring to the nomination process or the actual voting process? Because it is true that there are individual branches of judges that nominate films for their respective categories, but the same is not true for voting on the actual winners. all academy members get to vote on all 24 categories, which is why the oscars are considered to be a joke by many because theres so many people voting on categories they're not qualified to judge. |

I'm referring to the actual voting process. I far I know, ALL Academy members vote for Best Picture. They CAN vote for other categories as well if they want to, but they are not required (It caused an whole drama on tumblr since every academy member was "skipping" the animation category). Pixar and Disney employees are among the people qualified to vote for it. |

I don't know if that's true or not about the Oscar voters. If it is, that's just the usual politics of awards shows which can and have worked both ways. Disney/Pixar boycotted the Annie Awards altogether a few years ago because DreamWorks had essentially rigged the voting to ensure that Kung Fu Panda won every award possible the previous year. As far as HTTYD 2 getting Best Picture consideration, I'd doubt it. Only three animated films have ever been nominated in that category (Beauty and the Beast, Up, and Toy Story 3), and despite the general bias against Disney/Pixar on this board, those are universally considered among the best animated films ever produced. Many more of equal or arguably even better quality have failed to even be nominated. Given what I know right now, I'm afraid that HTTYD 2 might have a flaw or two that keeps it from being completely perfect, so I'd really be surprised if it gains any momentum at all for a Best Picture nomination. |
Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

I can understand this failure system in some awards shows. But in Academy Awards? That's not cool at all. |

I don't believe there should be awards for movies if they only earn them through popularity or bribery. |

Ah yes, I remember all those Oscars John Carter won. Wait, no I don't, because that never happened. |
Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18. My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.
