I've never heard of any charges when using Hangouts. It's just googles IM service, so it works the same as Skype.

All you need is the persons Google+. As it's all integrated into it, just like facebooks messenger.

I really do think you should! There's no need to be shy, we're all friendly and I'm sure it's a first for many of us (me included!).

I myself have to travel 3 hours to get there, others are flying/getting the train out from Germany. A couple are coming from Ireland too!
