This pleases me. No, really, this does seem to have been a day for good news that came the heck out of nowhere. Now, to apply my mind to a positive issue for once:
Spoiler: click to toggle Now, who is Toothless likely to kill? It's not going to be Drago, unless the reviewer has a very odd definition of "supporting character." It's also unlikely given that the review implies that there's quite a bit of action after this bit, though I suppose a rampaging Bewilderbeast or two could provide more than enough action.
Cloudjumper is a possibility, since the evidence suggests that he/she does die. This would even be quite probable if it happens during the bit where Drago controls Toothless. I suppose it would be a bit of a cop-out then, since it would serve as an instant excuse for Toothless' actions that would completely remove the interesting moral ambiguity that could result from this situation.
If we're going down the mind control route, then basically anyone is a possibility, depending on how one defines "supporting character." My gut would say Stoick is the most probable candidate, simply because it will pack some emotional punch and because he's almost certain to die at some point, either in this film or the next.
If we're not bringing the mind control into this, then there are very few candidates that would make any sense. Eret's technically a possibility, but I think it's all but certain that he'll join the good guys at some point. My gut says one of the Bewilderbeasts would be the most likely candidate in this scenario, though how the heck he would pull that off when they're ice dragons (and thus not handily combustible) is beyond me. It would, however, be awesome, assuming it made the slightest lick of sense.
Of course, most of you can probably figure out who I want him to kill, but there's no way my hopes are jumping up that high in one day. Besides, if Valka Villain Probability was actually to take effect, some reviewer would probably have hinted at it by now. Probably the same one who gave this information.
So yeah, I can't figure out the specifics, but I can honestly say this is good news. Truly, this is a strange day.
I agree, it's not that I don't want it, I'm saying I'll be crying when I see it. (I have to tell my sister, she's a big Toothless fan!  )

I'm thrilled with where they are taking this. It's still a PG movie but they're taking it to the next level.

Think of it like Harry Potter. The first one was a fun little kid's novel. As the series progressed, however, the tone got darker, growing with the characters and audience alike. That's basically what HTTYD 2 appears to be, at the very least, trying to do. It may well be a little more jarring because they do a time skip, rather than go through each year of the characters' lives (well, outside of the TV show, though there would still be a large gap in time between that and HTTYD 2), but that's a problem with execution more than concept.
And of course, sequels have to raise the stakes anyway. Just be thankful that HTTYD was sufficiently small in scale to leave somewhere to go without getting inherently ridiculous.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

I’m SO SO SO glad that Hiccup and Toothless’ relationship is getting tested in a much more serious way than was hinted at in the Art book. I mean, glad in a weird way. It’s gonna hurt, especially if it is who I think it is. But I’m gonna be happy about it.
