Anyone have doubts here?

I'm not too worried about relatability. There's enough going on that I'll be able to find something to latch onto if it's well-executed, and I'm already attached to the characters, so that's a plus.

I've gone through my fears many times, but I'll just summarise it in one word: writing. Basically, all my fears come down to the writing side of things. In all honesty, I've seen little to ease my fears for the first two acts. But here's the thing: from all that I've heard (including specifics, though obviously I won't discuss those here), the third act is going to be pretty darn good. In my personal experience, I've found that a good ending is enough to satisfy me, at the very least, even if the rest of the movie leaves a lot to be desired (The Dark Knight Rises is my standard example of this principle). So yeah, a good third act is probably all we'll get, but I've managed to get myself into a position where that will probably do.
Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

I`m thinking about the same thing, but now I understand that I`m not able to wait that long :P
Does anyone now when the film will be on DVD though?

Where I live I know there's a 4-month rule after a movie comes out, is that the case in other countries ?

The cinema makes the experience more intense in every way, with the only downside being that you can't riff. In other words, watch it in the cinema if you can.

For some reasons, I just can't shake off the feeling that HTTYD2 will not be able to touch me like HTTYD did.
I love this thread. I think here's what mr. k.c.w. is trying to say, and you're getting the perspective of someone who's like, *old* -- When you're an adolescent, like when I was 14, you come across a certain movie that hits you between the eyes, in the heart, and, erm, a lot of other places. You *imprint* on it. It's transcendent. You obsess on it, you want to soak in it. It colors your outlook from that moment and to the end of your life. Usually if it's a science fiction or fantasy movie it changes you for the better. Gives you a tool to understand life, and handle it better, before your brain has developed enough that you can handle it as an adult.
This movie makes you feel as if you belong, and as if something belongs to you. You Understand Now. As if you've added a core component to your very being.

For mr.k.c.w, this movie is "How to Train Your Dragon."

For Dean DeBlois that movie is "The Empire Strikes Back." And he was so touched by the experience that it's inspired him to make "How to Train Your Dragon 2."

Hells yeah, I'm seeing it in the theaters.

I know many many people who would doubt that. But all of them are HiFI fanatics and sold their sols to afford something like that. ;)

I'm not worried if the experience will be bad. I can say without any doubts that the movie wil be the audio-visual reference for the next half decade. Even if the story would be completly nonesese, everyone would enjoy it as a great experiene.

What I'm really affraid of is the time after the movie. I mean the first movie influences my character on so many levels, what when the second one is doing that, too, but in another way? Who will I become?

Me if I were rich. I would own a room like that, with at least 300 BluRay best movies (HTTYD avaible and space for the sequels).

GOING BACK TO TOPIC:
I think I'm gonna love this movie too, because a lot of us like the series, which has worse argument and visuals; but WE like them because we already love the characters!
I'm going to trust in reviews and I think this will be a good one

Beautifully said, guys !

It's like when you read a book again after some time, you don't read it with the same perspective, because in the meantime, you've lived, you've grown and you've changed. Same with this movie, who knows what it will bring to you in June/July, next year or in 5, 10 years ?

One of the strong themes here is self-identity. That's something that changes and evolves over the years. And time doesn't always mean greater knowledge in that case.
As a teenager, I was trying to find my place, as we all do, and at some point, I felt comfortable with my life and felt like I knew myself quite well. Then life goes on, and you reach other steps, and new questions arise. Sometimes life does that on you. And today, I fully relate to Hiccup not knowing who he is, and looking in every direction, hoping to find an answer (look at his map, he's gone randomly everywhere, but he's lost in this vast space, you can feel it when he says with a sigh, "so what do you say, just keep going ?"), because I've pretty much done the same for some time !

Yes, totally! ^_^
What I'm really excited to see is where he'll be at the end of this film, emotionally that is. How his experiences might shape and/or change him and what he'll find out about himself.
And if the movie truly exceeds in exploring these themes of identity and such, I think there's a chance we might even learn something about ourselves. Wouldn't that be something?
Exactly this! Hiccup in the first movie was great in helping me see myself more clearly, and I'm anticipating that with this film as well.
And I'm also wary of the final impact the second movie will have. We've been waiting for it for so long, have had lots of time to anticipate and form theories and expectations that its gonna be quite something to see how it measures up when we actually see it.

But, for all this, I'm still sure no matter what it will be a very good movie. Maybe not on all levels as the first, but I'm okay with that. Beginnings are supposed to be special and memorable. Sequels should be too, but for a whole new set of reasons without losing the heart. And for me, the only way they could lose the heart would be to lose their grasp on Hiccup and Toothless' bond, and I doubt they did that.
