The essence of drama is conflict. Without it, you just have mindless, meaningless fluff. No one above the age of ten (and I think even that would be stretching things) wants to watch a movie where everyone's happy all the time.
I know so many fans UNDER 10, like my little sis and their friends. whats with this fans?
I was going to originally set five years as the boundary, but then I remembered that five year olds watch Dora the Explorer, which is basically everyone always being happy and speaking random bits of Spanish while creepily breaking the fourth wall. So obviously it happens somewhere between ages five and ten.

But in all seriousness, kids can handle some pretty dark stuff. Heck, I watched Beast Wars when I was about that age, and that killed off about half the main cast by the end.
Beast Wars was awesome. Really dark for a kids show in parts, but awesome.

Back on topic though, this is indeed good news. I have my suspicions as to who it might be and if I'm right then this will make for a really good test of their friendship. I agree with what some others have said, conflict breeds interesting drama, particularly between characters that are supposed to be best friends. I'm really curious how this scene is going to play out in the movie.

What should I write on my signature? Hmm...
I am a Httyd, Gravity Falls and Portal (One and two) fan.
I'm also a bookworm and an introvert.
That was pretty random, but that's me summed up in two sentences.
