I have just read the Art of Dragons 2, and it was fabulous!! The character designs and landscapes are more amazing than the first book, and makes me really excited about seeing it all in the film. To be honest, it really wasn't spoilerly. It was more about the production of the film, and doesn't talk about the very ending at all. It does hint at a conflict Hiccup and Toothless will have, but what that is exactly is, I still don't know. Besides that, I think it's ok to read the book now.

What's your opinion of the book? What is your favorite picture in it? Which character has the best character design? Are there some designs you wished they went with instead? I'd love to know your opinions on it.:)
"There's something you must remember when riding a dragon. There's no manual, no safety harness, no guarantees when you're on one of these beasts. All you have is the wind in your hair, and the clothes on your back. The only thing between you and that dragon is your saddle. You need to hold onto it for dear life, as that creature takes you the skies. That, is dragon riding."

I agree, I had no idea he could draw. I was really looking forward to seeing Nico Marlet's work, and I was not disappointed! :)

Not enough character designs (early concept art) and no where near enough info on some of the characters. Still slightly bitter about that but whatever...

I do wish there was more earlier character designs, but for whatever reason they didn't include them. They did the same thing with the first book. I like that the pictures are much bigger, so that way you can really study them.

As for the info on them, I think they did that on purpose. They probably wanted to let you form your own opinions on them when the film comes out. I was disappointed that they didn't really tell you where they got the idea of aging the characters or how they came up with the new ones. This one focused much more on the animation than anything else.
