Misgivings about HTTYD2

One thing I worry about is how DW has made Astrid really just a "girl" for Hiccup, instead of having her own use and persoanlity. Also I worry the minor gang will be used as just laughingstocks for humor.

Bigger than she did in HTTYD. And... Spoiler: click to toggle She actually defies Stoick's orders in the movie. I don't know why but that's what it says on the HTTYD website. I think she is still as fierce, if not more, in the second movie. I bet on it

I too would be seriously disappointed if she was demoted to being just Hiccup's girl/occasional emotional support. Though iirc some reviews I've read mentioned that Not really a big spoiler, but tagged just in case she basically takes no or very little part in the final battle and it's really Hiccup who does all the heroic stuff, which I kinda like and also don't because him being not very physical is a HUGE part of his character.

Astrid has way more importance than you know or have seen in the released movie clips so far. Spoiler: click to toggle What Shnuckles said was right. She also helps Hiccup map the new worlds he explores and and in the scene that follows the Itchy Armpit one, she gave him moral advice, "What you're searching for, isn't out there, Hiccup. It's in here. [points to his heart]" Oh, and don't forget the racing scene. I think she's got real personality there, like stealing the black sheep and scolding Snotlout for giving up points. Anyways, the spoilers I read up on the one-hour screening make me feel pretty confident on her importance in the film.
