Hey guys  For all those who have heard the HTTYD2 soundtrack, you know that this track is an absolute gem. I was seriously having second thoughts when i heard Stoick and Valka get a song and a dance to go with that, but this one is absolutely perfect. I cannot possibly imagine a better way this song could have been played out!So yeah, is there any way this can get a nomination atleast for the best original song atleast? Is there any specific criteria to get nominated for that? I think it is much, much, and much more emotional and beautiful than Where No One Goes, Let it Go, This is Awesome (The Lego Movie) and We Belong Together (Toy Story 3) |

When I heard the whistling I was a bit confused, then I heard the singing, and I just thought "Gerard Butler, what in Thor's name are you doing?". Then I heard Craig Ferguson interrupt him and I said out loud "Shh, Craig, Gerard's doing a solo!" The last bit made me laugh out loud XD |

I don't think it'll get a nomination, because the movie isn't a musical like Frozen. Musicals get that advantage because they are a musical. However, I thought that the little singing was sweet because Stoick and Valka are together again after 20 years. It's not a song for a musical that's for sure, but perfect for a make-up dance! I can see the scene perfectly with the two singing and laughing along with Gobber playing the flute thing and occasionally and unintentionally interrupting xD Knowing Gobber, he can't stand not having a little fun with the group! It was a nice idea for a film that didn't involve singing before. |

I think if any song was going to be submitted for Best Original Song consideration, it would be Where No One Goes. The nominees are usually performed during the show as well, though not all of them. Dancing and Dreaming isn't really a performance-type song... |

Where No One Goes may not have worked very well within the movie, but it is both an awesome end credits song and an an awesome song in its own right. There may be a potential problem with it being nominated for Best Original Song, though: it has movements that are very, very obviously based on the score to HTTYD. They definitely work, but it might well stop it from being considered an "original" song. As for "For the Dancing and the Dreaming", I couldn't stand it. Some of it is character issues I have talked about elsewhere (and are hardly relevant here), some of it is just that the plot just stops for a few minutes for this bizarre, unbelievable segment (I have never been so glad to see Spoiler: click to toggle in a movie in my life - it took all my willpower not to actually shout out, "Oh thank God, the plot!"). But honestly, it's just not a song that is noteworthy in any way. There's a fairly basic rule I follow for songs sung by characters in movies, even more so than for any other scenes: they have to earn their place. It can be through either advancing the plot in the most efficient way, or through revealing something about characters, or just through being a bloody good song. Ideally, it will do all three. "For the Dancing and the Dreaming" did none of these. When I get the soundtrack, I will be cutting it out of the playlist, just like I'll skip through that entire scene on the Blu-Ray. And each will be the stronger for it. |

Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18. My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy. | |
