Ah that's right; the actual quote is "There were dragons when I was a boy"-- References to the books--Image of Snotlout going "What do I do?"--that whole storyline would fit nicely in HTTYD3 |

Ooh man, this is a big topic. First off, I hope they don't do anything too generic, nothing like classic tales. I want something strictly orignial, derive it from some obscure norweign fairytale if they have to, but I just don't think another "Battle against the dragons" would suffice. We've had two already, which were great, even if the second battle was predicible to the point it was expected. But I feel like the ending to this trilogy needs to be something more, something emotional to wrap our heads around and think "oh no, oh yes, oh dear, save me now, crying", rather than "oh dear, fight! fight! fight! oh yes, crying". With Hiccup now cheif, I'm anticipating him to be busy, overloading. I'm expecting emotional breakdowns and some depressed qualms of "why is life" with him. But he may or may not be such the main subject anymore. I feel like it would be too unrealistic and happy if he somehow managed to get over his fathers death so quickly and resume role of cheif with ease. He's been alone to work on his own projects for his entire life. Complete introspective soliditary worktime, and now he has to transition to working hard for everyone but himself - that's going to be hard, on a motivational and emotional level. Someone suggested a possible "Mary Sue" plot of Hiccup being kidnapped and someone must rescue (likely Astrid). Personally, as wild and more plausible than a lot of other possible plots I read so far- I also feel like that plotline is done enough to not be original - as possible as it seems, I wouldn't be satisfied with a kiddnapping. It's simply overdone. "Oh no, our leader has been kidnapped, chaos is rampant, significant other must come to the rescue and the day is saved". I secretly hope that they wouldn't follow a line like this, however I must give props that if I were to place my bets on anything happening - it would be this one. For several reasons, a) it brings hiccup off his mighty chair. We've seen him represented as an capable, all-intelligent, teetering-on-perfect main character - and dethroning him for a while would provide some realistic he's-not-so-perfect-not. b) it leads the plot toward exploration, obviously if the dragons are going to dissapear- it's not going to happen while sitting on berk, it wont come to hiccup, hiccup will likely trip and fall into it. and c) as much as it is done, it's a lot more original and less used than something like a third "battle of dragons" would be. As for Night Fury's - I certainly want Toothless's past revealed. I might just melt if we don't get a least something. I wouldn't care much for finding a bunch of other night fury's, maybe a clue that there is still at least another one alive in the world would be interesting, but I'm more interested in Toothless's past than on a new character. I read a theory a while back that Drago's cape may be crafted out of Night Fury hide - which is why it's so resiliant to dragons flame, and why it's also black in color (I have yet to recall a full black dragon beside toothless in the movies thus far). SO it may be possible that Toothless's past may be linked - somehow - to Drago's? It's at least something to sleep on. One thing I absolutely want to see more of in the 3rd movie, is Astrid. I feel like she needs more character development. She is so interesting, and strong-willed and independent (which is not exactly commonplace in most female characters we see in cinema), her whole demenor makes me want to know more about her, what she would do under pressure or in a tight place, I want tp know what kinds of decisions she would make, etc. As of yet - we only see her as a comrade and as hiccups love interest and confidant. But even though it's implied, we don't actually see her making any active moves or directions. I feel like sometimes the movie focuses too much on just Hiccup's intentions, and not enough on his surroundings and fellow characters- whom are also very important in the development of any story. The series is about Hiccup, but it's unrealistic if he's the only one shown to have grown and progressed in character himself. (Which is something we did see in Snotlout and Ruffnut, but not in Gobber or Fishlegs). Anyways, however it turns out, I'm really excited for this last movie. I hope they take their time to contribute to the story and details, and I hope this last one will be the best one, or at least really really really good. I have expectations now, unfortunately, but I'm sure Dreamworks will hold up! I don't have so much doubt in them as I do with other animation productions like Pixar or Disney (but that's a whole 'nother debate). ![]() |

Please Dreamworks, just for once, let Astrid be the hero, even in a small way. It really burns me, too, that she is such a badass, and yet she's the one getting saved all the time. And I kind of feel like all of the teens besides Hiccup and Astrid are there pretty much just for comic relief. I mean, in both movies, if none of them were there, the plot seriously would not change one bit. I would like to see them take on some more important roles in the third, and hopefully in the series too. |

Yeah, I'd not only like to see more direct teamwork between the two, but I'd like to see Astrid doing just as much if not more work than Hiccup on occasion. I'd think it would be cool to see Astrid playing a vital role is some sort of plan at a point, she needs her spotlight too more than a distress signal. ![]() |

I would love for it to be her who kills one of the bad guys, be it Drago or the newly-announced antagonist. Not likely to happen, I know, and it'd be way more likely if Hiccup killed him, and if he doesn't, it seems like Valka would be next in line of likeliness to kill Drago, because they'd have the most reason to to avenge Stoick. But I'd like to see where maybe Hiccup goes to try to kill Dragon, and instead, Drago almost kills Hiccup, then Astrid shows up just in time, gets pretty beat up herself, but then finally manages to kill Drago. |

Yes! I want them to do something significant for once. It's killing me that they are litterally just, as RealHousewifeofBerk put it, "there for comical relief". I want someone to save something big, I want someone to accidentally damage something major, I want one of them to twist a story or situation. At the LEAST they could be given subplots. As far as I can tell, they don't even have a story of their own - they've just been following Hiccup this entire time. Which doesn't make Hiccup a leader, it makes a ill-thought unrealistic scenario. Not to mention, where did Hiccup get his leadership skills? He's been shown multiple times taking charge and leading the group, however he constantly says that he doesn't have it in him when more than obviously it's shown that way. Leadership isn't gained by simply impressing someone by winning the dragon-fighting-training (in movie 1), people don't just suddenly take interest in you and decide to follow your every action. I want something more. I want the side characters to act instead of simply react. In short words, I want really complicated things to happen. ...even I know that's a lot to ask for - I can still dream, right? /end rant. ![]() |

YES! Yes! And I would like all of the teens to have back stories revealed somehow, at least at some point in the series! What are their family lives like? Who else has dead family members? They did grow up in the middle of a war, it wouldn't be too far-fetched if some of them also didn't have a mother or father. I've read this fan fiction where the twins' parents died when they were younger and that they were on their own and literally starving to death, and the other teens tried to help them by giving them food, but they were too proud to accept any help. How about something like that? I mean, I'm not saying it has to be that dark, but something! Anything! |

I don't think any of the main characters are gonna kill Drago. Yes, I do believe Drago is gonna die in part 3, but I have a feeling it's gonna be his Bewilderbeast that kills him. It just seems like poetic justice to me. I could be wrong, though. |
