I had a thought earlier today. What if the reason Gobber said "And for other reasons" is NOT because he is gay (still a possibility), but because he HIMSELF was in love with Valka! And he never remarried because she broke his heart when she chose Stoick over him! And he could never love another as much as he loved her!!!!!! :O
But why Gobber and Stoick are still friends? I rather think that Alivin loved Valka too, but not Gobber, because of the thing I wrote one sentence before...

No need to be so hostile. If some people want to ignore the gay thing then that's fine. Not a big deal.
No one ever said anything about simply ignoring it. We're talking about finding ways to pretend it doesn't exist in case someone might be uncomfortable.
You don't understand... She means if Dean wouldn't have confirmed that Gobber is gay, so if we only would have the tiny line Gobber says in the movie...
Thanks Ghetto! X3

But he has. Why is it that someone is always trying to erase the fact that we have some refreshing diversity in the film? It's really frustrating.

Also, I feel like I need to clarify that my original post wasn't directed at anyone here in particular (and neither is this one), least of all Sila. :)

I'm not angry, either. I just don't understand the need for this discussion at all. And I'm strongly objecting to granting homophobes the right to pretend like Gobber's line means anything else, because it doesn't. Dean has explained what it means. So why do we have to entertain this 'What if' scenario? If there was a new black character, you wouldn't ask whether he might have used brown paint on himself because of Berk's new carnival tradition.
