Not sure how (or if) they'd handle a wedding, but...
Spoiler: click to toggle
I honestly wouldn't mind if they decided to put a wedding on screen though. I realize that the romance has never been the focus. But I also realize this isn't Disney and no relationship change would make a "princess" out of Astrid anyway. If anything, not focusing on romance has given the Hiccup/Astrid thing an undertone of things just falling correctly into place when you have your priorities in order, and I think this, if anything, is one story that could handle a wedding without turning it all cheesy fairytale on us.

But whatever. It's all down to what DreamWorks decides to do with it, eh?

It seems necessary to me for the series to finally shine more of a spotlight on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship. I for one wouldn't mind a wedding scene; don't understand what the opposition is all about.

Do we even know how old they are in the 3rd ep? I hope they won't be in their late fifties :-)

About the wedding: If it's just a normal wedding then nooooo, who cares about that? (and that's coming from a hardcore Hiccstrid fan ). If it's something exciting like someone gets kidnapped or a war breaks out during the wedding then I'm in with a grin.

And about Valka... I'm not sure how I feel about her. Right now I have mixed feelings.

I agree that they should show more of hiccup and astrid but only if it's relevant to the plot... I don't think they should have a wedding scene just for the sake of having a wedding scene. There's other ways to get across that they're married without making a big deal out of it. The second movie dropped hints that they were engaged and it was nbd, which I thought was nice. If there is a time skip between the second and third movies I don't see why they can't just show that they're already married now. The audience already understands that they're in love and going to be wed eventually. We get it. The second movie made that very clear in a tasteful way and there's no need to hammer it in more. Unless their marriage plays a big role in the plot Game of Thrones-style.... Rofl.

What exactly were the hints (other than Stoick's "That's my future daughter in law!" but the word himt is plural here), I must have missed them?

I don't know if any one else noticed this, but Hiccup has a ring on his right ehh.... forget what the finger's called, but.. I noticed it after only watching the movie once...

I thought that was a piece of his armor? The concept was brought up before, but the "ring" was attached to his leather armor.

thats basically what I was talking about, that one line is more than enough for someone to reasonably assume that they are engaged...
