I would've loved it if Eret's fort's scene wasn't deleted. :/
If it was anything like that comic we saw a few months ago, I wish they could have kept that in too. It would have really started the movie off with a bang!

I saw it again just now...and now i kind of feel like some changes would have made the movie better, well atleast to me...

1. Jonsi's song as a pure instrumental at the start. When Hiccup is about to crash, the song just abruptly ends, in the middle of " we slow for no one..." Thats it. It was weird.

2. Removing the baby dragons scene entirely! Today, i felt like it made no sense... Tuffnut was actually laughing during that scene..and only Hiccup and Valka seemed kind of sad to me..It really took away a lot caused by Stoick's death.

3. The ending! Am i the only one who HATED Hiccup's shout at the end? It was kind of like an oversell actually...both HTTYD and GotNF has the same kind of narratives in Hiccup's modest, and calm voice, and in this one he attempts a loud shout to end..it was weird actually.

That saying, i LOVE the movie. I noticed a LOTTTT more tiny tiny things, and i just can't wait to buy the blu-ray.

There's going to be a deleted scenes feature in the DVD, and I believe it was said in the Art Of book that they'd animated it, but they scrapped it (it was "deemed a little too dark."). So, they'll probably (if not certainly) feature it there! :) (In the deleted scenes, not the Art Of book. :P )

I would have made the ending more somber, possibly a cliff hanger, since it was already well-known that there would be a third sequel. Actually, HTTYD2 could have ended where Hiccup makes that speech about the chief protecting his own and returning to berk.

The article described the deleted scenes as "action-packed", so it must be. I wonder if the other deleted scenes also be fully animated, or if they'll just be storyboard sketches like the deleted scenes from the first movie. ^)

Speaking of a cliff-hanger, there was a scene that was deleted (which may also be on the DVD 8) ) which showed Drago pulling himself out of the water- basically, a "he's back, and he's not dead!" type of thing. :D

That's a great scene to put after the credits.

I like this idea. In fact, I've wondered for some time if it's possible that the movie could have been meant to end in this fashion at some point in its development. Even if it wasn't, the ending is what I would change in a dream world as I feel that it's a glaring weakness compared to the rest of the film.

I'm in no way ideologically opposed to happy endings, and most films that I enjoy have one in some form or another. That being said, the way HTTYD 2 arrived at a happy (and relatively conclusive) ending just felt tacked on and rushed after the preceding events. That's not to mention that there were more logic holes and plot contrivances in those last 20 minutes or so than there were in the rest of the movie combined. Other than making the movie quite a bit longer, ending on a somber note and saving Drago's defeat for the third installment where it could be better fleshed out would definitely be a plausible solution.

Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

I knew it was coming in a deleted scene but I think it probably should've been in the movie, dark or not. At least it's more the DVD is worth. 8)
