Honestly, Dreamworks is a hack studio that's managed to make money through knowing what the public (in all its general stupidity and low standards) wants, plus the occasional movie that was actually good. If they fall, there are plenty of good animation studios that will fill the void (Animal Logic looks set to make a move if they can make the most of The Lego Movie), so as long as we get three good HTTYD movies, I still fail to see why we should care if the company collapses. We've paid our dues to them with our money, and their loss will be some other company's gain.
Unbelievably insensitive and rude comment considering how many of people and their families rely on their employment at Dreamworks. The collapse of a studio as big as Dreamworks would shake the entire industry, it was devastating when they let go of just 250 employees after ROTG. They're not in any danger of actually having to shut down but you acting like it wouldn't be a loss at all is so obnoxious I can't.

And if Dreamworks collapses, some other studio will expand or rise out of nothing to fill the void, thus creating new jobs, either for those people or for some other people who don't have jobs at the moment. It's the somewhat questionable nature of capitalism, and we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

The animation industry is relatively very small in job opportunities, with a huge amount of people trying to get in it and stay in it. There are very few "well known" studios that can employ hundreds/thousands of people and pay them all well. You are so off base if you think its that easy to just up and move to a new studio after yours collapses. I have seen people this has happened to first hand and it is awful. Its nice and idealist to believe that when one studio falls another takes its place and all those people have more work no problem, but thats not how it works.

Cartoon, dearest, I honestly don't want to be rude and this is going to be blatantly so, but why are you here? Some people seem to know you but I don't and you just seem very unhappy and negative. I initially earnestly liked your posts because opinions that challenge the norm are fun and working through ideas are what makes preparing for a movie release great. But all I'm getting is "this character is awful, this movie is going to be awful, actually DreanWorks is just awful".
I just, why do you care then ;;
I don't care if you like Valka or not, I had my own ups and downs with her too but just insulting DreamWorks and spreading bitterness doesn't seem to make anyone happy, including yourself. I don't want you to continuously talk bad about a film you don't like made by a company you don't like, because it'll just put you down.
If you want to talk positives and negatives, I will be happily on board but you have a really big predetermined stigma and I don't think anything anyone is going to say matters.. Which doesn't make much for a discussion

Sorry, love, but I don't know what you want from this forum other than for it to agree with you.

As nice as this would be, I seriously doubt it. It might struggle to the top 3.

While I hope the best for it as far as an animated movie goes, I agree that I can't see it beating out a few titles that are upcoming.

Maybe not in the Boxoffice, but with a probability bordering on certainty I can say that it will be the most famous and hyped movie this year.

In a perfect world, I would absolutely agree with you about the movie only mattering, and money is just money. But we all know, money is everything unfortunately. DreamWorks doesn't have the financial security to deal with a flop. Box Office results drive marketing, what types of films they are going to make next, future animation endeavors, et cetera. These films are expensive, just covering the cost of one isn't going to assure another film will be made. I especially care about films like How To Train Your Dragon not only for personal reasons but I believe it is making huge progress in the animation industry with its effects, textures, lighting, et cetera. So I definitely care about the results and I wish it only the best in theaters.

-edit-

I suppose I really just care about the company, and therefor want them to know that the audience appreciates their hard work.
I agree fully and I find it rather funny how everyone just sees the sig and is like Ooooooooohhhhhhh :O
"There is Freedom waiting for you
On the breezes of the sky
And you ask 'What if I fall?'
'Oh but my darling,
what if you fly'..."

mystery dragon, pic drawn by night fury fire. Thank you :)

I'd have to agree with valka's last few posts. Lately all I've read from your posts cartoon freak is downing everything about the movie, and the company making it. Those are people with a job they love and families they have to support. If you don't like it that much, why are you on this site?
If you don't like it, don't see it and don't bother coming here and ruining it here for other members.
Dragons, need I say more.

Hiccup, chief of berc, dragon master.
Toothless, alpha dragon.
You and me bud we can do this, as one.
It's just a zipple misunderstanding
