Just to clarify, I'm pretty certain from the press release that both new seasons are going to be set pre-HTTYD 2. That means there won't be any concerns about dealing with any new characters or deaths found in the movie. As for what I'd like to see, I'd really prefer for the new seasons to be more character driven than the first two were. I'd be really happy with some anecdotes from the changing way of life on Berk with a clear focus on Hiccup and his friends going through the process of growing up. I'd rather not have an external threat placing Berk in constant peril this time around, although I'm not getting my hopes up on that front. |

I'm afraid of how they'll handle Alvin, as both ways seem... cliched (maybe not the best word, but I'm drawing a blank here). Alvin as a good guy: It's too simple for Alvin the Treacherous. And then there's the fact that he is, you know, the Treacherous. For him to be a good guy, it is, simply, too out of character. Alvin as a bad guy: And undo everything from the previous season? That is, in my humble opinion, one of the fastest ways to lose fans. Every iota of the finale would be shattered. For all its faults, do any of us really want the outcome of the second season changed? They stumbled at times, yes, but it is still a good story. My ideal way: Alvin as an anti-hero or, at the very least, a villain that does not threaten Berk. In the second case, I would like to see a story-line where Hiccup tries to stop Alvin from threatening the other tribes, especially since Alvin uses dragons. In the first case, I would prefer a judicious use of the character (eg. not in every episode) |

Well, I still rather wait and see what happens. It's too early to tell in my opinion. It would be cool to get more character development. |

Yeah, I hope they won't mess it up. He's a good character. The only other option is to not have him in the at all, but I don't think that would work out either. Your idea is very good, and hopefully they'll go in that direction. |

Nice point, although I don't think we'd lose fans from the second way. I'd like to see your way or either Alvin staying a good guy for half an episode until he sets his eyes on something else he wants from Hiccup or Berk, faking his act until the climax. Although I think he should give up on the whole riding dragons thing. It's getting a bit old. He just needs a new objective. |

He has trained dragons. Remember the Whispering Deaths? Alvin used one to carry himself into battle. Between the knowledge the Riders have demonstrated in front of him, his time on Berk, his sketchy reading of the Book of Dragons, and his caretaker's knowledge of dragons, he certainly has enough knowledge to train dragons quite easily. Now, it may not be as complete as the Riders' knowledge, but I'm 99.999% sure he knows how to train a dragon for war. If they want to reintroduce him as a villain, they should show what exactly a bad guy could do even with a limited amount of knowledge. Not to mention, it would give them a chance to turn the Riders dragon knowledge to anti-dragon purposes. Maybe Hiccup's wingsuit was designed to allow him to commandeer enemy dragons? His fire sword used to pacify enemy dragons? Toothless new tail was perhaps so that they could separate and unite at will? Astrid's new outfit is maybe to protect against colder temperatures at high altitudes? You get the point. It would also explain any dragon-fighting skills they demonstrate against Drago (if they do, I haven't seen the movie). |

I agree. I think the new season would work really well at this point if they focused more on the characters themselves than a bad guy of the week threatening Berk. Not that they can't do that every once in a while to shake things up, but developing the characters (as much as Dreamworks allows them to do) would be a great idea and hopefully generate some great episodes. |
