By the time I came back from my grueling afternoon and rechecked the Chinese tickets site, HTTYD2 went from 7.0 rating to 8.8 and from 17202 ticket presales to 34011 ticket presales. They had lots of nice things to say in the reviews section, too. Here's a few, courtesy of Google Translate: Sub-plot warm episodes compact. I'm doubting that Box Office Mojo would actually list China back on HTTYD2's foreign box office numbers...Seeing that they didn't add the numbers for China for the HTTYD, even I know that it was shown there. In other news, HTTYD2 grossed about 490 million worldwide, closing in on the first one's 494. If Box Office Mojo would add back China's numbers, I think it might tie with the first one, maybe surpassing it, depending on whether Box Office Mojo would add back the numbers to the first one. Also, I think I can translate the reviews that you posted back into English much better than Google Translate. Awesome! It beats most other recent Chinese Animated Movies, and knocked them out of the park! The story, the visuals and the 3D effects are top of the class! (I think this a rant...more than a proper review...) I'm already upset with going to UME. First of all, nowadays, movies that are shown in Hangzhou cinemas are already available in 3D, but they still have those bulky glasses. (I think that he could be watching the IMAX version and he didn't know about it, so he thought that he was watching the regular 3D version, and that's why he's complaining about the glasses. Anyway, moving on.) Second, Other tickets providing companies like Gewara can already let you print out the movie tickets, but this provider couldn't! And wirst of all, the service was terrible! The popcorn was bad. I won't go to UME to watch movies again. The domestic box office is performing poorly. I think he's referring to the entire box office of China in general...though it might be me, hoping that is true, instead of referring to HTTYD2 performance in China... It's August! Awesome! Even though I've watched the pirated version of it, I'm still going to watch the genuine version! Yep...China, the king of pirating things. (No idea what the first sentence was referring to.) Can anyone tell me if I used my student ID card, can I watch movies at half price in Wanda? *sigh*No matter where you are, you will still see someone would ask something that you can search online in a moment. Well..some of the translations where either something that are similar to Google Translate's, only better at making making it grammatical and trying to make the most sense out of it, or it lost its original meaning. Well, at least I tried. Don't ask me. They tend to add a lot of unrelated stuff into the movie because they want to censor topics are sensitive to the government. So...I have no idea what they added. |

Here is some info on China's response to httyd 2 today, according to one of the Chinese httyd forum/ chat blog dedicated to httyd (which up to now has a membership of 18840 members and counting  ) Click here to visit their site~ (Language in Chinese though)1. Many of them went for the first viewing and loved it! Some mentioned crying in the movie even though they already know the whole plot of the story. 2. It seems that httyd 2 is the only IMAX movie showing in China this week and it is pretty much packed. However, a few also stated that some of the cinemas (3D/2D) were pretty empty and one had only 5 watching. 3. Found quite a few replies saying that they would revisit the movie to boost box office  |
