Yes actually. Someone has made that point a few times.

I still believe that we will never see and hear about another Night Fury. This is the fact that makes Toothless so special.

I'm kind of hoping we will but also hoping we won't. I mean we all love Night Furies so it would be great to see another one, but then it would mean Toothless will lose some of his uniqueness.

If they do decide never to introduce one I at least hope that they will explain why there is only Toothless. At least that way I'll be happy in knowing the truth about him.

If Valka's actually seen a Night Fury, why would the website say that Toothless is the last known of his species? My best guess is that the spikes apply to most strike class dragons.

The dragons aren't classified by biological similarities. Nightmares, Terrors, Stormcutters and others have also spikes on their bag.
The classes combine breeds with similar abilities or tempers.

It's an odd thing to throw into the film unless it will somehow play into the series. Personally, I think it may be a mating thing, where male Night Furies try to impress the females with patterns of spike movement. So we may see another Night Fury in the trilogy at some point?

I must admit I don't really see that coming. I don't think his spines can be split up like that. I can't really tell what's it purpose. Perhaps for defensive? I don't think it could affect his flight speed or anything...

The skin on the inside looks a bit reddish. That's probably a sign that it was splitted for the first time ever. It could be the last step of his transition to adulthood.

Could be, but I rather think it is just an remnant of his evolution. Concerning to his shape and some other biolocal factors it is possible that his ancestors lived in water, the second line of spikes would be more usefull there.

At least Toothless is happy:)
That is SO CUTE!
I don't think the spines actually pop out of his body, they probably always clamped so it looks like just one spine.
What should I write on my signature? Hmm...
I am a Httyd, Gravity Falls and Portal (One and two) fan.
I'm also a bookworm and an introvert.
That was pretty random, but that's me summed up in two sentences.
