What did people think of it? now that it's out and all

I've heard a lot of conflicting opinions on it. However, I've not yet seen it myself, so I can't say anything right now.

It's honestly pretty good. I'm just trying to figure out how they made it half an hour longer without adding anything, and indeed removing one scene (or maybe two, if you consider the encounter with Astrid at the smithy at night its own scene rather than part of the montage).

Also, weird opinion, maybe, but I honestly don't think they changed Toothless' design enough. They changed all the others' enough that Toothless' looks kinda out-of-place. Granted, his design has always been unique among the dragons, but at least it fit with the others in the original. Live-action, though... it just looks a little bit off. But Mason and Nico did a pretty good Hiccup and Astrid, Gerard Butler was, of course, an excellent Stoick, and Nick Frost did a good Gobber. The other actors were... fine. Mostly. Gothi was weird. I had no idea that was who she was supposed to be until Stoick addressed her by name. But yeah, pretty good movie. Does the story benefit from a live-action execution? No, not at all, in my opinion; but it certainly doesn't suffer from it, either.
